Retirement of Dr Emma Cheetham

We would like to inform patients that Dr Emma Cheetham will be retiring from the partnership on 31/07/2026 after 14 years of dedicated service to our community.

We are enormously grateful for her commitment to patient care and leadership within the practice.

Patients currently under Dr Cheetham’s care will continue to receive full clinical support from the wider GP team. If you are awaiting follow-up, this will not be affected.

The practice remains fully open and committed to providing high-quality care.

Training and Education

The University Medical Group has been accredited as being a suitable practice to train GP registrars. GP registrars are fully qualified doctors with hospital experience, registered with the GMC, who are in specialist training to become GPs. GP registrars are part of the medical team and are supervised by our GPs. Medical information and patient records are shared with these doctors as part of their training. The GP Trainers at the surgery are Dr Emma Cheetham, Dr Sharanjit Jaswal and Dr Victoria Klemm. GP registrars are assessed on their consultation skills during their training and they may ask your permission to record a consultation. In addition to registrars, medical, pharmacy and paramedic students may shadow our clinicians. They may be present in your consultation, with your permission. Dr Connell McMenamin is our current GP registrar under the supervision of Dr E Cheetham. Dr Hidayah Azmi is our current GP registrar under the supervision of Dr S Jaswal. Physician Assistant

Physician assistants are healthcare professionals who work alongside our doctors and provide medical care as part of our multidisciplinary team. They work under the supervision of a named doctor, who is available at all times, should they need support or clinical advice.

Social Prescribers

This is a patient-facing role, delivering health and wellbeing advice and signposting patients to local voluntary organisations to maximise patient self-care and support. Patients can ask their GP to refer them if they would like support with dealing with debt, loneliness, housing issues, parenting, mental health issues, improving their lifestyle and other issues which affect an individual’s wellbeing.
