Minor Illness Appointments

The paramedic team area fully trained in Minor illness. At all times they have access to the Duty Doctor who is able to provide advice and sign off prescriptions for the paramedic team.

Doctor's appointments are available for more complex, ongoing conditions only.

For minor illness appointments, for conditions such as a chest infection, urinary tract infection, tonsillitis, sinusitis etc please call the surgery on 0118 9874551 to arrange an appointment with a member of our minor illness team.  Please note that our appointments are monitored to ensure they are booked in with the appropriate clinician.  If you book an appointment with a doctor and the condition is deemed to be minor illness, we will make every effort to contact you to advise you when your appointment has been re-booked with one of our highly trained clinicians but please bear in mind, that we may not always be able to contact you to let you know we have done this before you arrive for your appointment.

Patients booking telephone appointments on-line

The clinicians will always try to contact you at the booked time but please be aware that this may be up to 2 hours after the time slot booked due to the current situation.  Do not call the practice to chase your appointment until 2 hours after the appointment time have passed.  We apologise for any inconvenience and that you for your patience at this time.

The practice has resumed face to face appointments where appropriate. When calling for an appointment, you will be asked if you would prefer a telephone or face to face appointment depending on the nature of the appointment and availability on the day. Exclusions include rashes, coughs and fevers which remain telephone only initially however the clinician will bring in any patients who require a face to face assessment and on discussion with the patient.

There are now a limited number of on-line pre-bookable appointments for each GP.  These appointments are telephone only. If you would like a face to face appointment, please call us to arrange.

Thank you to all our patients for bearing with us during this unprecedented time however if you are unable to get through to the practice,

please call NHS 111 for medical advice.

Online booking is also available for:

  • Smear tests in the practice
  • Medication reviews with a member of the pharmacy team by telephone appointment only
  • Blood tests
  • A limited number of minor illness appointments

We would kindly ask that these slots are not booked for any other reason as we will have to rearrange the appointment.

Antenatal appointments can be booked with reception 2 weeks before the appointment is due on 0118 9874551.

To make an appointment to see a doctor or nurse you can book online via the link at the top of this page (requires registration). If you cannot see any bookable appointments, this means the slots for the day have already been taken so please log in the following day from 7.45am.

You may also telephone 0118 987 4551. Do not come to the practice to book an appointment.

In general a GP can only deal with one problem in a standard 10 minute appointment. If a patient needs to discuss more than 1 problem they should book a double appointment to allow time for this. If you have 2 small issues the GP may be able to deal with these in a standard 10 minute appointment but please mention this at the start of your consultation.

When you book you will be asked to state briefly the nature of your appointment to enable us to direct you to the most appropriate member of the health care team.

Important information for telephone consultations during extended hours

If your telephone appointment is after 6.30pm Monday to Friday or on a Saturday morning and you miss the call, you will not be able to phone the practice back as the switchboard is closed during our extended opening hours so please ensure you are available to take the call.

Urgent Appointments

If you have an urgent problem you should phone us as early as possible as we always release some appointments for patients who need medical attention on the same day. We ask you not to arrive unannounced at the health centre unless the matter is extremely urgent.

Cancellations

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
