Physician associates (PAs) are healthcare professionals who work as part of a multidisciplinary team under the supervision of a named senior doctor (a General Medical Council (GMC)-registered consultant or GP). While they are not medical doctors, PAs can assess, diagnose and treat patients in primary, secondary and community care environments within their scope of practice.

Social Prescribers

This is a patient-facing role, delivering health and wellbeing advice and signposting patients to local voluntary organizations to maximize patient self-care and support.  The Social Prescribers will work across both Whitley Villa and the University Health Centre.  Patients can ask their GP to refer them if they would like support with dealing with debt, loneliness, housing issues, parenting, mental health issues, improving their lifestyle and other issues which affect an individual’s wellbeing.
